Rules

Article 1 : The « Cuivres Côte d’Azur » association is organizing an International Tuba Competition the 10, 11 and 12th of March 2023 in the Antibes Conservatoire at 1, rue Claude Debussy, Antibes.

Article 2 : This competition is open to musicians up to 30 years old.
All candidates under 18 years old must have a parent or guardian’s authorization to compete. They must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Proof of identity can be asked to the guardian.

Article 4 : The pieces played by candidates are defined by age limit. Each candidate can compete in the category of their choice, under the condition that they are not older than the age limit. There is no minimal age required to be able to compete in a category. It is possible to compete in two different categories ;in which case they must pay application fees for each category.
Candidates must respect the editions (see « Repertoire »), and must be in possession of the original sheet music during the competition.

Article 5 : The third round of the « Excellence » category will be accompanied by the Brass Band Méditerranée. Rehearsals will take place the day before this final round, for the candidates that are selected.

Article 6 : The piano accompaniment is compulsory for each performance, apart from the 1st rounds of the « Superior » and « Excellence » categories.
Candidates can perform with the pianist of their choice. They can also be accompanied by the competition’s pianist, in which case they will be given a time slot to rehearse with the pianist.
Registration fees include the piano accompaniment on the day of the competition and for the rehearsal.
Candidates can ask for a 2cd rehearsal. However this will be under the terms of the accompanist, and dependent of his/her availabilities.  

Article 7 : The use of photocopied sheet music (for both soloist and piano accompanist) is forbidden.

Article 8 : Application fees are determined as such :

Candidates that are « Ami du BBmed » (donors of the Brass Band Méditerranée) and students at the Antibes Conservatoire can apply free of charge.

Article 9 : 

Applications are to be completed through the website between the 1st of January 2023 and the 14th of February 2023 :

Applications will only be registered after reception of the application fees.  

Article 10 : There is a limited number of contestants per category.
Applications are registered by order of reception from the opening date and are limited by the quota per category, defined by the organizer.
These quotas can be modified by the organizer for organizational reasons, as such, the organizer has the right to cancel an application in the case of a change of the quotas. In such case, the tuition fee will be entirely refunded to the candidate.

No applications will be accepted after the 14th February 2023.
Access to the Opening concert and the “Finale” of the competition is free, limited only by the number of seats in the auditoriums. Each candidate can save their seat (reservations open on the 15th February 2023).

Article 11 : In response to the application, the candidate will receive an email specifying his/her date and time of trial and, if necessary, a rehearsal slot with the pianist.

Article 12 : All applications are final. In the case of a withdrawal, the candidate will not be refunded his/her application fees.

Article 13 : Candidates will submit to the rules of the Conservatoire on the weekend of the competition. These include safety conditions, such as sanitary protocol.

Article 14 : All travel expenses are at the expense of the candidate.

Article 15 : The jury is constituted of instrument specialists. Their decision is final, irrevocable.

Article 16 : The award ceremony will take place after all the rounds (apart from the Finale of the « Excellence » category.
All candidates will receive a diploma and a prize. The organizer has the right to decide not to give out the totality of the prizes if the artistic level or the number of candidates in a category justifies it.

Article 17 : The organizer disclaims all responsibility in the case of accidents that are not linked to the organization of the competition. Underage candidates (under 18 years old) are under the responsibility of their parent or guardian. The organizer disclaims all responsibility in the case of loss, theft or damage of the candidate’s belongings.
The association disclaims all responsibility in the case of incidents between third parties during the competition. All disputes will be settled between the persons implicated.

Article 18 : Applications include the authorization to share or publish images of candidates. These will be used on the competition’s website and on all means of communication that are necessary to the promotion of the competition. This includes a live broadcast on social medias (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube).

Article 19 : All audio or video recordings are prohibited, unless they are explicitly and exceptionally authorized by the organizer.

Article 20 : Applications to the competition involve full appliance to the present conditions.  

Article 21 : For all scenarios not cited explicitly in these present conditions, the organizer has the right to decide on exceptional motions required by the circumstances.
